- What is Counselling, Coaching, and Social Work?
As a private practice Social Worker, I provide counselling, coaching, consultancy, and supervision. The purpose of these services is to work alongside individuals to identify and address any issues that may be affecting productivity and well-being.
Social Work is practiced in a holistic way, seeking to understand you in the context of your environment, your experiences, and the social systems governing your life.
I use counselling AND/OR coaching techniques to support you in further developing self understanding, problem solving, and making positive changes in your life – dependent on your particular needs.
My framework is founded upon respecting you as the expert in your own life, and believing you to be capable, resourceful, and complete. Working from this framework, the focus of our working relationship is:
- Empathic support in a safe environment
- Identifying any issues you wish to address or goals you want to achieve
- Facilitating self-discovery and personal development
- Supporting you to identify solutions or strategies to achieve your goals
- Holding you accountable, offering encouragement along the way
- Why would I use a Counsellor or Coach?
As a qualified Social Worker I have undertaken a four year university degree, which included 980 hours of supervised practice, as well as training in counselling, human development and behaviour, social structures, and human service. This level of education and practice, together with my participation in continued professional development, ensures I am suitably equipped with the skills and understanding to work with you to achieve positive results.
If you need support to get through a difficult time, overcome a particular challenge, or if you are seeking to achieve further personal growth, I can help. As an experienced counsellor and coach I can assist you to improve clarity, confidence, communication, and relationships – supporting you to achieve an increased sense of capability and well-being. I provide support for a variety of difficulties you might be facing, including:
- Career change or workplace issues
- Life transition and adjustment
- Coping with health problems
- Stress management
- Relationship issues
- Grief and loss
- Is online counselling safe, confidential, and secure?
I do not share personal information with third parties except as necessary to provide services or as required by law or legal processes, and I never sell your personal information. I have operational and technological security practices in place to protect your personal information to the best of my ability.
You are welcome to discuss your privacy and information with me at any time to help allay any concerns you may have.
- What equipment do I need to use this service?
All you need is a phone or computer to connect with me for your sessions.
If you choose to connect online, you will need a reliable internet connection and a good quality webcam & microphone (many laptops have these built in).
- How will my sessions work?
You decide if we connect by phone or online using a video chat platform. I recommend having at least one session by video chat so you can see who you are speaking with and to aid our relationship building process.
As part of your first session you will have an extra 20 minutes (free) to allow me to collect some initial information, and discuss your current circumstances or goals. It also provides us the opportunity to get to know each other a little, and to establish if my services are the most appropriate for your situation.
During your session you can tell me about yourself, what things are happening for you, ask questions, and discuss areas of concern. I will provide targeted support, insight, and guidance to suit your particular requirements. Together we will learn about any obstacles that may be holding you back, and develop strategies to help move you forward.
This is an ongoing collaborative partnership for as long as we both feel it is of assistance to you. Regular review and evaluation of your service is undertaken with you to ensure you are receiving continued benefit, and to avoid over-servicing.
Following your first session, if we both agree my services are a good fit with your needs, you are able to schedule your future sessions directly online. If we decide my service is not the best fit for your needs, I will endeavour to suggest more appropriate services for you.
- How do I know these sessions will be effective?
Research indicates delivering counselling services using Information and Communication Technology (ICT: i.e. phone and internet) mediums can be just as effective as face-to-face interventions. This research also explains the empathic connection fundamental to successful therapeutic relationships and outcomes can still occur using these methods despite geographical separation.
This type of service delivery also offers some distinct advantages over face-to-face delivery including:
- Being accessible in remote areas where similar services may be limited
- Providing a dis-inhibiting environment allowing issues to be expressed more freely and efficiently
- Convenience if you have a fast-paced lifestyle, unusual working hours, or are an at-home parent
- Accessible if you are home-bound or have limited mobility
- Improved privacy by not having to attend a physical location where privacy might be compromised
- Convenience and flexibility of broader scheduling availability, lack of travel time and parking issues.

Outcomes of these type of services will vary for everyone due to individual differences. Largely, the effectiveness of your sessions will depend on your commitment to the process, taking identified actions, and being dedicated to accomplishing your desired results.
- How do I book and pay for my sessions?
You can book and pay for your sessions directly online. Choose a session by your preferred date and time. Find your preferred date on the calendar, click on the date and available sessions will be shown. Once you have selected your session time, you create your own personal account where you can log in anytime to view your appointments. After completing your registration, you will be redirected to PayPal to complete payment. You will receive an email confirmation of your booked appointments and a reminder email before your scheduled session time. If you prefer to pay by Direct Deposit or you require an invoice, please get in touch I can arrange this for you.
For your security, your payment details are never stored on this website.

- Can I claim my sessions through Medicare or as a Tax deduction?
Unfortunately my services are not covered by Medicare. If you are the holder of a Health Care or Seniors Card, please contact me to discuss the possibility of discounted session prices (*evidence of your card & identification verification will be required).
For taxation purposes, you need to be able to prove these services are a requirement of your employment or are compulsory for you to attend before you may be able to claim it as a work related expense.
If you are choosing coaching support for career advancement and you are able to prove that upon completion of coaching you would further secure your job or increase your qualification in your current occupation, then these services may be claimable as a self-education expense.

- Am I able to reschedule or cancel sessions after I have booked and paid?
Yes, you may reschedule or cancel your sessions if you provide 24 hours notice before your scheduled session.
If you request your sessions to be rescheduled or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, your session and payment are considered forfeited per the Terms and Conditions of service.
If you have prepaid for a block of 4 sessions, you may cancel unused sessions if you provide 4 business days notice prior to your next scheduled session and a refund of remaining sessions will be provided less a $60.00 administration fee.
